2) we watched a short film/slideshow. I had provided most of the pictures, but seeing it up close, accompanied by beautiful music, it struck me how clearly it showed Na’il’s love and enjoyment of life. His smile could be so glorious! How I missed him!More speeches followed:
A teacher’s helper we've known for years expressed her admiration and love for Na’il.
One of the youngsters had written a ‘song’ about him and said he hoped it would encourage us when we were sad.
Due to their C.P., some children had great difficulty speaking, but still made an effort to share their feelings with us. It was so precious!
Of course Wim and I were also expected to say something as well. We
were grateful being able to convey our gratitude to the assembled staff, and to tell them how special they were. The work they do in the lives of these children is wonderful. The dedication and love they have for these special children, the often hidden potential they try to expose, can’t be expressed in words. We thanked them for the privilege of being part of a team; together we have worked to give our Na’il the best life possible.
It had been pouring almost the whole morning.
Not wanting to become soaking wet, only a few of us went out in the school’s garden. In Na’il’s honour five (!) trees were planted - oak, terebinth and Judas tree.

As we drove home, Wim and I pondered on how much (again) we were touched
and blessed by the love and warmth of the Israelis. They are not ashamed to share their tears with us, to express their sorrow for the precious child who made such an impact in the lives of those around him. Who was such an example to us ‘healthy’ people.

His memory truly is blessed, and that’s a treasure nobody can take away from us!
