Sailing Away

“Death is like the departure of a ship.
At sunrise she unfolds her sails and makes for the horizon.
When the ship disappears behind the horizon, everyone will stay behind sad.
But somewhere, at the other shore, a group of people will be eagerly waiting.
And when at a distance they view the sails, someone will very happily cry out:
“THERE SHE COMES!””
Jan den Hartog.

When the life of our beloved boy was ebbing away, I could picture him ~ the unfolding of his sails, getting ready towards an unknown horizon.
He left us behind, utterly sad and bereaved, but there, on the other shore, he was greeted with joy and exultation by those who have gone before us: “There he is!”
Our Na’il was welcomed home and swept up into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
